Most physicians know the Hippocratic oath.
But medical students at The University of Minnesota Medical School class of 2017 wrote a new oath for new physicians during their orientation in 2013, and shared it at their graduation on May 5, 2017.
You can read the whole oath here, but we were especially moved by this part:
“We will seek to heal the whole person rather than merely treat disease, committing to a partnership with our patients that empowers them and demonstrates empathy and respect. We will cure sometimes, treat often, and comfort always.”
