CON Activity
ROPER ST. FRANCIS CON ACTIVITY Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital A Certificate of Need was issued on June 10 for the renovation and expansion on the Emergency Department. In addition to renovating existing space, approximately 13,000 sq. feet of new construction will be added. Construction is estimated to begin later this year. An exemption was granted for the construction of a new 30,000 sq. ft. Medical Office Building on the hospital's campus. Construction is underway with an anticipated completion date in December 2003. BSSF hospital has withdrawn its CON granted in 2001 to construct sixty additional acute care beds. The hospital can re- apply for fifty additional beds under the current state 2003 health plan. Roper Hospital DHEC granted a conditional approval on March 10, 2003 for the hospital's $71 million renovation and expansion CON application. The project is under appeal. An exemption was granted for replacement of an existing 1.5T MRI. An Open House was held on July 23, 2003, to showcase the new unit, now operational. COMPETITOR'S CON ACTIVITY A CON application was filed in July of 2003 for Phase I of the replacement and consolidation of Charleston Memorial and MUHA. A diagnostic center including a new MRI and 3 CT Scanners will be constructed in addition to a new bed tower housing 156 general hospital beds. The total project cost is $291 million. Summerville Med. Center A CON applicaton was filed in March of 2003 to construct an ambulatory surgery center with 3 operating rooms. The total project cost is estimated at 5.4 million. DHEC has not yet made a decision on the project. A CON application was filed in June 2003 to replace a 0.3T MRI unit with a 1.5T Signa MRI, with a total project cost of 1.9 million. Lowcountry Ambulatory Care Center, LLC LACC has a CON application under review by DHEC to construct an ASC with 2 operating rooms in Summerville. The total project cost is 4.8 million.
