The Medical Society of South Carolina is located at 69-B Barre Street, Charleston, South Carolina in the dependency located directly behind the Governor Thomas Bennett House. The Governor Bennett House was built between 1822 and 1825 by Thomas Bennett Jr. and is noted for its elliptical free-flying staircase. In the early years, the dependency was used as the kitchen quarters of the main house, and in later years, as a residence for medical students.
