Poetry & Medicine

poetryApril is National Poetry Month, and believe it or not, many doctors, patients and health care workers are also poets. Pulse: Voices Through The Heart Of Medicine, is platform that publishes personal stories of illness and healing. Launched in 2008, Pulse was created by members of the Department of Family and Social Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in collaboration with colleagues and friends around the country.

In addition, Stanford Medicine’s Center for Biomedical Ethics has a program called Medicine and The Muse. Home for the arts and humanities at the medical school, Medicine and The Muse integrates the arts and humanities into medical education, scholarly endeavors, and the practice of medicine, exploring the intersections between medicine, the arts, humanities, and the social context of medical care.
