The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit that advocates for hospital safety, quality, affordability and transparency, recently released its hospital safety grades.
We’re proud to share that Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital, East Cooper Medical Center and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in West Ashley each earned an A. Roper Hospital in downtown Charleston, Trident Medical Center in Charleston and Summerville Medical Center each earned a B.
Grading is based on an expert analysis of 27 patient safety metrics, including prevalence of certain infections; problems with surgery; practices used to prevent errors; safety problems; and responsiveness of doctors, nurses and hospital staff. The lowest grade awarded is an F.
Across the state, 19 of the 46 South Carolina hospitals Leapfrog graded earned an A. Thanks to all of our RSFH physicians, nurses, and staff that keep our hospitals safe and provide the most excellent service possible.
