The ARK of South Carolina, an Alzheimer’s Family Support non-profit was awarded the $30,000 Roper St. Francis Physicians Endowment grant this month.
Since 1996, the ARK has served families in Dorchester, Berkeley, Charleston, Orangeburg and Colleton counties coping with the daily challenges of Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementia, through respite care, family support programs, caregiver workshops, and resource referrals.
The grant money will support the organization’s respite care scholarships, caregiver educational programming, and training for law enforcement and first responders. Currently, the ARK offers respite programs Monday through Thursday in Summerville and on Wednesday in Harleyville.
The ARK also hosts several fundraisers throughout the year, including the 2019 Race For The ARK and Dancing With The ARK’s Stars. For more information on specific programs or to support the ARK, please visit their website.
