Studies in the past have shown that having a romantic partner around during stressful situations can have a calming effect and help lower blood pressure. A new study published by the University of Arizona shows that when it comes to managing the body’s cardiovascular response in stressful situations even just thinking about a romantic partner can help lower blood pressure.
The study took 102 participants who were in committed relationships and had them complete a stressful task…submerging a part of their body in 38-40 degree water. Some participants had their loved one with them, some were told to visualize their partner, and some were told to just think about their day.
